Why a license filing is the earliest lead

1. The lease is signed

The owner has a space and a concept. No website, no Google listing. In Florida, kitchen plans go in for state review now, and we carry those too.

2. The license is filed

The application names the business and the premises. This is the row in your inbox the next morning.

3. Build-out and inspections

Equipment, suppliers, POS, insurance and staff get chosen now. Weeks to months of selling time.

4. The license is issued

The last big permit. We send it as its own event: opening is close, so follow up now.

5. The doors open

Now everyone knows, and the order guide, the POS and the linen route are already decided.

Or the owner changes

Transfers at existing venues are their own event. New owners re-pick their vendors too.

Who it's for

Sales teams who sell to restaurants and bars and win by getting there first.

  • Food distributors

A new restaurant picks its broadline and specialty suppliers during build-out, long before the first service.

  • Beverage distributors

Every bar and restaurant that will pour has to file for a license first.

  • POS and payments

A new restaurant chooses its point of sale, payments and online ordering once, during build-out.

  • Kitchen equipment

Equipment is bought early: hoods, walk-ins, ranges and dish machines go in during build-out, and the license application is often filed while that work is being planned.

  • Hood cleaning

Every commercial kitchen with a cooking line needs its exhaust hood cleaned on a schedule and its suppression system inspected.

  • Pest control

A restaurant needs a pest control service in place before the health department walks through.

  • Linen and uniforms

Table linen, kitchen towels, aprons, chef coats and floor mats are set up before opening day, on a route.

  • Grease and waste

Restaurants with fryers and dish lines need grease trap pumping and used cooking oil pickup, and many cities require a hauler on record.

  • Insurance

A new restaurant needs property, general liability, workers' comp and, if it pours, liquor liability, usually before the landlord hands over the keys or the license is issued.

  • Marketing and signage

A new restaurant needs a sign, a menu, a website, photos, a Google profile and a grand opening, all in the weeks before it opens.

  • Staffing and payroll

A new restaurant hires a whole crew in the month before opening and needs payroll, tip handling and scheduling from the first shift.

Questions

Where does the data come from?

From the state agencies that license restaurants and bars: California ABC, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, the New York State Liquor Authority and Florida's Department of Business and Professional Regulation (food service and liquor). We read their public files every morning. Sources and method.

Do the leads include phone numbers and emails?

Mostly no, and we will not pretend otherwise. The agencies publish the business name, the applicant, the premises address, the license type and the dates, but rarely a phone or email. What you get is the timing and the address, usually before the place is on Google.

How early is a license filing?

Liquor license applications are usually filed during the build-out, often weeks and sometimes months before opening. California and Texas require a public notice to be posted at the premises while the application is pending. In Florida we also carry kitchen plans filed for state review, which come months before opening, while its food service licenses are issued close to opening day.

Are these all brand new restaurants?

No. Some filings are ownership changes at an existing venue, and some are stores (off-premise licenses). Each row is labelled, and your filters can skip transfers or stores.

How much does it cost?

$25 a month or $240 a year, with a 7-day free trial and no card to start. Every state and every filter is included.
